BIKING KIRYU TO LAKE UMEDA
OVERVIEW
Kiryu City is home to some amazing nature and you don’t have to be a Tour de France cyclist to experience it! One of the most popular casual rides in Kiryu is up the valley along the Kiryu river to Lake Umeda 梅田湖. A 27km round trip that is a gentle climb up to the lake and back from the center of town.
THE ROUTE
Start by taking the Kiryu Cycling Road until it ends at the girls high school. Then take the road on the east side of the river up to the Kiryu Dam before climbing the short climb to the tunnel to Umeda.
It’s all downhill from there back to town!
PRO TIP: The Soba Shop on Lake Umeda, Yuki-no-ya 雪の屋, is a great lunch stop!
Stats: 27km & 220 meters of gain
