Bike Damage Policy

At Rindō Bike Tour Japan, we take pride in providing you with well-maintained, high-quality bicycles. While we want every ride to be smooth and stress-free, accidents can happen. This page explains how we handle bike damage during your tour.


When Charges Apply

  • We begin charging for damages starting from $150 USD.

  • The maximum charge in the event of a total loss is:

    • $3,000 USD for all standard road bikes and e-bikes

    • $1,500 USD for non-e hybrid bikes


Parts Covered Under This Policy

If damage occurs to the following major components, charges may apply:

Cockpit (handlebars, shifters, brake levers, stem, GPS/light mounts) $150~750
Frame $1000-3000
Front/Rear derailleur $150~300
GPS unit $490-560
Crankset $150
Wheel rims or hubs $200-1000

What’s Not Charged

Normal wear and tear or minor consumables are not charged, including:

  • Seat

  • Handlebar grips and bar tape

  • Lever covers

  • Tires and tubes

  • Bottle cages

  • Mounts (on their own)

  • Lost lights

  • Derailleur hangers

  • Chains

  • Spokes


The Process

  1. At the end of your tour, your guide will check the bike together with you.

  2. If damage is found, you’ll be informed of the possibility of a charge.

  3. A full damage assessment is made afterwards, and we’ll get back to you with the exact amount.


Bike Insurance

For complete peace of mind, we offer bike insurance for $20 USD per day.

  • If you bike insurance, you are never charged for damages.

  • If you opt out, you remain liable for damages under this policy.

You can add insurance when booking your tour or up to one day before your tour begins.
