Both our pre-set and custom self-guided options offer similar landscapes, riding opportunities, and on-the-ground Rindō support – the main difference is how much input and control you want to have over building your tour plan.
Set Self-Guided Itineraries
Our pre-set self-guided tours are carefully designed itineraries built around our most popular self-guided tour plans. Each one follows a tried-and-true set tour flow and accommodation plan that we know works well.
You’ll still have flexibility each day through multiple route options, but the overall journey – where you stay, how many places you visit, and the general difficulty level – is already planned.
Great fit if you:
- Want a ready-to-book cycling adventure
- Don’t need an itinerary tailored around specific dates, towns, or must-see spots
- Want to keep costs lower than a fully custom trip
Not a good fit if you:
- Want full control over designing your own itinerary
- Have fixed travel dates or specific preferences that don’t align with our pre-set tour options
What’s fixed:
- Tour start/end locations
- Night-by-night accommodation plan
- Overall tour length and flow
What’s flexible:
- Daily route choice (shorter, longer, easier, harder)
- Pace of sightseeing, lunch stops, and off-bike exploration
Custom Self-Guided Tours
Our custom self-guided tours are built around your riding style, schedule, and accommodation preferences. Instead of following a set itinerary, we design a tour and accommodation plan specifically for you – based on your rider level, what excites you about riding in Japan, and what kind of stays you prefer.
You’ll still ride independently using our navigation and support systems, but the overall tour plan, route recommendations, and accommodations are carefully chosen to match exactly what you’re looking for.
Great fit if you:
- Have specific preferences you want to include in your tour plan
- Want to start/end in different cities than our pre-set tours
- Have a fixed schedule that doesn’t match our standard itineraries
- Value having more control and input in building a personalized itinerary
Not a good fit if you:
- Prefer a lower-cost, ready-to-book cycling adventure
- Prefer a fully structured itinerary with minimal decision-making
- Need to confirm your self-guided tour on a short timeline
- Don’t see value in paying a premium for a fully customized itinerary design
